This building includes the remains of a religious infirmary (hospital). It is a unique survival of a Carmelite infirmary, following a typical medieval hospital plan. A Carmelite friary was founded here in c1240. It was built to house 24 friars. It was closed in 1539 as part of the dissolution of the monasteries. Read official list description.
